TL;DR
Most videos lose half their viewers in the first 30 seconds. This post takes one script we wrote for Jordan Welch, “getting rich is easy, actually”, and shows you how it’s built. The video has 923,776 views and made an estimated $16,740 from YouTube ads alone.
Every line in the intro has one job, or it gets cut.
Every step has an open loop, then the why, the what and the how.
The offer goes in early, as the answer to a problem the video just raised.
The last line answers the first line.
If you want to learn about YouTube scripts, I’m your guy. Writing scripts is what my team at Viral Bangers does every single day.
Jordan Welch is an info product business owner in the dropshipping and make-money-online space, with over 2 million subscribers. He had views but no time, and the scriptwriters he’d hired couldn’t make a script sound like him. So he sent us the idea and a few videos he liked, we wrote an outline, he approved it, and we wrote the full script for his teleprompter. It was our first video together. Nexlev, the analytics tool we use, estimates about $16,740 in AdSense from it, an RPM of $18.13.
How This Script Is Built
The video is 18 minutes and 50 seconds long, in two parts. First, an intro that makes one big promise: get richer than 99% of people with 30 minutes a day. Then five steps that pay off that promise. Every step follows the same pattern: an open loop that makes you curious, then the why, the what and the how.
Two decisions came first. It’s for someone who hasn’t made their first $1,000 online yet, and it sells a $37 program, Digital Launchpad, which Jordan runs with Iman Gadzhi. Every step had to help for free and make the program feel like the obvious next move.
The Intro, Line By Line
The intro runs about 620 words, roughly 4 minutes. The hook is the first 30 seconds of that. This is what the intro does, in order.
Confirm the click. “What if I told you that getting richer than 99% of people is actually easier than you think and all it takes is just 30 minutes a day?”
Set the stakes. More progress in one year than most people make in a lifetime.
Prove it. Completely broke, then “over $10 million online”.
Set expectations. The strategy, why it worked, and how to apply it.
Paint the pain state. A boring 9 to 5, no goals, 4 hours a night scrolling. I call this roller coaster scripting: low first, so the high feels bigger.
Flip a belief. “The bar is so low these days the competition is literally non-existent.”
Kill the objection with math. 30 minutes a day is 15 hours a month and 180 hours a year.
Make it feel easy. No 5:00 a.m. runs like David Goggins, no 12-hour days for 6 months straight.
For your business, the “what you don’t have to do” line lists what your buyer dreads, like cold calling, hiring or running ads.
Try this
Take the intro of your last video and write the job of each sentence next to it. If you can’t name the job, cut the sentence.
The Five Steps
Step 1: Believe You Can Get Rich
It opens with a loop: “The first step is the most important but gets constantly overlooked by beginners, and this right here is the foundation of all my success today.”
The why comes before the what. Jordan went “all the way down to $30,000 in debt” himself. Only then is the step named: “You need to actually brainwash yourself to believe that you can get rich before anything else.” Open with the what, and the viewer thinks “I already know that” and skips ahead.
Then a zinger: “Broke is not a condition of the wallet, it’s a condition of the mind.” The how is one chapter of a book a day, 10 to 15 minutes, and Jordan names two books. That’s my bar for every how: something the viewer can do in the next 24 hours.
Step 2: Set One 30-Day Goal (And Where The Offer Goes)
This step breaks a belief: big long-term goals are usually discouraging when you’re starting out. Then it gets specific: “I want to make $1,000 from Dropshipping in the next 30 days.” That’s exactly the first win the Digital Launchpad buyer wants.
Then the pitch lands, in step 2 of 5, on purpose. The script tells the viewer to learn a skill and shows them they don’t know which one to pick. The offer shows up as the answer: “I just launched a new program with my boy Iman Gadzhi called the Digital Launchpad for just $37.” That way it comes across as help.
It’s early because most people never reach the end of a video. Put your offer at minute 12 and you’re pitching to a fraction of the people who clicked. Our rule: deliver one or two real payoffs first, then pitch before people drop off. For a 15 to 20 minute video, that’s usually between minute 3 and minute 7.
If you sell a $5,000 service, pitch the next small step, like booking a call, once in the middle and once at the end. I covered the numbers behind asking for the click in getting YouTube views but no clients.
Try this
Open YouTube Studio, click your last video, then Analytics, then Engagement. Find where the audience retention graph drops below 50%. Your offer needs to come before that point.
Step 3: Collect Small Wins Every Day
The loop: “The third step is one that might seem insignificant but actually has the biggest impact in the long run.” Then a comment prompt, “another day, another W”, and a scary goal cut into tiny wins: your first product, your first store, your first TikTok ad. For a consultant, that’s sending 5 follow-ups this week.

Step 4: Avoid The Money Traps
The step names its idea, money traps, because a name is easier to remember than a definition. Then Jordan makes a damaging admission: “When I first started making money I was living way outside of my means and all it took was a couple mistakes to bring me all the way down back to zero.” Say the bad thing first, and your advice gets more believable.
It also gives the video an enemy: car dealers, credit cards and student loans. For a consultant, the enemy might be lead-gen agencies that sell junk leads.
Step 5 And The Ending: Raise The Goal And Tie It Back
The last step is short: set a new, bigger 30-day goal, hit it, and raise the bar again. It works as a recap without sounding like one.
Then the roller coaster finishes high with the dream state, the opposite of the pain state: “While everyone else is watching Netflix and making excuses you’ll be out there every single day putting in the work to transform your life.”
The last line closes the first loop: getting richer than 99% of people “was actually pretty simple”. Deliver the final payoff, then end fast, with no “thanks for watching”.
Make It Work For Your Business
The same skeleton for a sales consultant who helps agencies book more calls:
Shocking question: “What if you could book 20 calls a month without cold calling?”
Proof: your real before and after, like 3 calls a month to 40
The math: 5 follow-ups a day is 100 conversations a month
Offer as the answer: not sure what to say in your follow-ups? Book a call and we’ll map yours out
Tie back: a full calendar was never about luck
Only use proof that’s true and that you can show on screen. The enemy should be something outside the viewer.
How To Write Yours
Pick one viewer and one offer, in one sentence.
Write the intro, one job per line, using the eight jobs above.
Outline 3 to 5 steps, each with an open loop, a why, a what and a how.
Place your offer after the first or second step, as the answer to a problem.
Write the ending last, with a last line that answers your first.
Read it out loud. Wherever you stumble or get bored, cut.
What We’re Not Claiming
We wrote the script. We didn’t film it, edit it or run Jordan’s funnel, so I have no sales number. The $16,740 is a Nexlev AdSense estimate, and I don’t have a payout screenshot. And Jordan had 2 million subscribers before us. Take the structure, which works on any channel size.
Your Script Checklist
My first line says what my title promised
I give proof with a real number in the first 30 seconds
Every step has an open loop, a why, a what and a how
My offer comes before most viewers drop off, as the answer to a problem
My last line answers my first line
