Getting YouTube Views But No Clients? The 3 Changes That Got Our Client To $40,000 A Month

If your videos get views but your calendar is empty, this is how Scott Taylor tracked every call to a video, split reach from targeted videos, and got YouTube to about $40,000 a month.

Getting YouTube Views But No Clients? The 3 Changes That Got Our Client To $40,000 A Month

TL;DR

Scott Taylor was sure YouTube had restricted his channel. His videos used to get 14,000, 20,000, even 30,000 views, then dropped to around 5,000, and most of his clients were coming from ads. The channel was fine, but the videos were doing the wrong jobs, and nobody could tell which ones made money.

We changed three things:

  1. We tracked every booked call back to the video it came from.

  2. We gave every video one of two jobs: bring new people in, or turn them into booked calls.

  3. We made sure every video sent people to one clear next step.

His views went from about 3,600 a video to 15,000. One video got 37,343 views and booked around 10 qualified calls. And YouTube now brings in around $40,000 a month on average.

I’m Bryan, and I run Viral Bangers, a YouTube agency for business owners like coaches, consultants and traders. Scott Taylor, a forex and futures trader who sells 1-1 coaching, is the client I get asked about the most.

Part 1: Why Your Views Aren’t Turning Into Clients

When a channel gets views but no clients, it’s almost always one of two problems:

  1. Every video is trying to do the same job.

  2. Nobody knows which videos actually make money.

Scott had both. Most of his clients came from ads, so YouTube had become a side thing. He’s far from alone. The tracking we run for clients follows each sale back to the exact video that started it. Across 207 channels, 26,621 videos and over 336 million views, it has traced more than $35 million in sales.

When we compared views to money, the connection was almost nothing. Link clicks were over 4 times better at predicting which videos made money, and the 100 most viewed videos made only about 11% of it. So views are a poor way to judge your videos.

Part 2: The 3 Changes We Made

Step 1: Track Which Videos Book Calls

Before we changed a single video, we set up tracking, so every booked call could be traced back to the video it came from. Without it, view counts can mislead you. A video with 40,000 views can book zero calls, and a video with 3,000 views can book five.

For Scott we used the call-tracking system we run for all our clients. You can start with the free version, which looks like this:

  1. Make one link per video. Any free link shortener works, or add something like ?src=video12 to the end of your booking link.

  2. Put that link in the first line of the description and in a pinned comment.

  3. Add one question to your booking form: “Which video sent you here?”

Try this

Write down your last 10 videos. Next to each one, write how many clients it brought in. If you can’t fill in that column, add the “Which video sent you here?” question to your booking form today, which takes two minutes.

Step 2: Give Every Video One Of Two Jobs

We started Scott on what I call targeted videos. These are deep, technical videos for someone who already trades and is thinking about getting coaching, like “Watch Me LIVE Backtest My Science-Backed Scalping Strategy” and “10 Years Of Trading Experience In 33 Minutes”.

They got 3,212 to 4,048 views each. But between them, they booked around 7 calls, roughly one for every 1,500 views. The problem was that not enough new people were finding him, so he was selling to the same few thousand people over and over.

So we added reach videos: broad topics anyone in his market would click on. The first two did almost 9,000 views each. Then “I Finally Revealed My Most Effective Scalping Strategy (For Free)” got 37,343 views. It was his biggest video in over a year, YouTube told him it was doing 9.7 times better than usual, and it booked around 10 qualified calls. Scott’s message to us: “Definitely found what we need to double down on”.

That’s roughly one call per 3,700 views, less efficient than the targeted videos, but it brought in far more people, and every one of them can now watch the targeted videos next. Reach videos bring new people in, and targeted videos turn those people into calls.

You also don’t need a big edit. “If You Understand Math, You Understand Trading” is just Scott drawing on an iPad. It got 17,000 views in 5 days and booked 3 calls. The idea and the packaging do most of the work.

In other businesses, the two jobs look like this:

  • Sales consulting. Reach: “Why most sales calls fail in the first 2 minutes”. Targeted: “My exact discovery call script, line by line”.

  • Business coaching. Reach: “Why most businesses stay stuck at the same revenue”. Targeted: “Watch me fix a client’s offer on a real call”.

If you’re stuck on what to put in either column, I wrote a full walkthrough on finding YouTube video ideas that get you clients.

Step 3: Send People To One Clear Next Step

Scott’s reach and targeted videos all pointed to the same next step: a booked call with Scott. Keep it that simple: one link at the top of the description and in the pinned comment, and one line in the video telling people to click it. If you give people three options, they pick none.

Your link-click rate is the percentage of viewers who click a link in your video. In our tracking, videos where under 0.25% of viewers clicked made about $33 each. Videos where 0.5% to 1% clicked made about $1,395 each. The view counts were similar, but the second group made roughly 40 times the money.

Ask once, clearly, usually 60 to 70% of the way through, when the viewer is most curious. If most people leave before then, ask earlier.

Part 3: Scott’s Results

We made nine long-form videos with Scott from July to September 2026. The first three averaged about 3,600 views. The six after we changed the strategy averaged about 15,000, which is about 4 times more and right back where the channel was at its best in 2025. And YouTube has been bringing in around $40,000 a month on average.

Partway through, Scott switched to a webinar funnel, a free live training people sign up for. We made one last-minute video for it, “If I Started Trading Again In 2026”, and it brought in about 200 sign-ups in 72 hours.

What We’re Not Claiming

The webinar didn’t convert well. 200 people signed up and only 1 of them paid. That’s an offer problem, and YouTube can’t fix it. Scott also switched offers a bunch of times, and every switch restarted the funnel from zero. With one steady offer, every number here would be higher. He was also still running ads the whole time, and I’m not showing his coaching price, so I won’t pretend I can tell you exactly how many clients that $40,000 is.

So pick one offer and leave it alone for 90 days.

Part 4: Make It Work For Your Business

If you’re a bookkeeper or a B2B consultant, your market is smaller than Scott’s, and that’s fine. At your size, a reach video might get 500 views instead of 37,000. If that video books one call with a business that can pay you $5,000, it did more for you than a video with 50,000 views and no calls.

Plan Your Next 6 Videos

  1. Write down the one thing you sell. If you can’t pick one, pick one first.

  2. Write 3 reach ideas. Would someone who has never heard of you click this?

  3. Write 3 targeted ideas from the questions people ask you on sales calls. Would a future client watch all of it?

  4. Give every video one link and one ask.

  5. Decide how you’ll track each one before you publish.

  6. Post once a week, and don’t judge anything until all 6 are out.

Then check two numbers per video: calls booked, and new viewers (YouTube Studio, Analytics, then Audience). Targeted videos should win on calls, reach videos on new viewers. If a targeted video gets views but books nothing, look at your next step or your offer, and check your titles against the data on titles that get buyers to click.

Your Checklist

  • I know if this is a reach video or a targeted video

  • I know exactly who it’s for

  • It sends people to one next step, and only one

  • That link is in the first line of the description and in a pinned comment

  • The link is tracked, and my booking form asks “Which video sent you here?”

  • I’m selling the same offer I was selling last week
