Thumbnail Designer
Design YouTube thumbnails people click without thinking twice. You get briefs with the title, key visuals and channel style, and deliver clean, high-contrast thumbnails for several clients at once.
This role isn't for everyone. Check before you apply.
Apply if all of these are true
- You have a strong portfolio of YouTube thumbnails, with results if you have them (CTR, growth).
- You master hierarchy, typography and contrast for small screens.
- You can match each channel's style and brand.
- You deliver fast without dropping quality.
- You use Photoshop, Canva Pro or similar at a professional level.
Don't apply if any of these is true
- Your portfolio is mostly branding or social media work unrelated to YouTube.
- You need several rounds of major revisions on a standard brief.
- You deliver files in the wrong format or size.
- Your work looks good on its own but doesn't perform on YouTube.
If you meet all of the above, keep reading.
What you'll actually do.
Viral Bangers is a done-for-you YouTube agency for experts and personal brands who sell high-ticket offers. We plan, script, edit and publish long-form videos, and turn them into short-form content. The team is small, fully remote and works to a high bar. A great thumbnail is the first reason a viewer clicks. The best one isn't the one that impresses a designer, it's the one a viewer clicks without thinking twice.
Responsibilities
- Design thumbnails from briefs in ClickUp, following each channel's visual identity.
- Create approved variations to test different approaches.
- Follow every spec: title text, colors, subject placement and mood.
- Deliver final files in the right format and size, named and organized in Google Drive.
- Apply feedback from the Creative Director or Operations Lead.
- Deliver on the dates in ClickUp and flag any risk early.
What you need to have.
- A YouTube-specific thumbnail portfolio.
- Professional Photoshop, Canva Pro or equivalent.
- Clean, upload-ready files every time.
- Capacity for 6 to 7 active clients.
What we look for
- Fast turnaround with quality.
- You think in clicks, not just aesthetics.
- You ask early when a brief isn't clear.
How you're paid.
$65 per thumbnail or $1,100/month
Approved variations are paid at $30 each when using per-thumbnail pricing.
We agree on the structure before you start. Invoiced once a month.
You start with one paid trial thumbnail from a real client brief, then a short call.
